Pranidhana Mudra for Relaxation and Surrender

Mudras are yoga for the hands! They are symbolic hand placements enhancing specific outcomes and moods. They redirect the flow of prana, vital energy to support health, concentration and transformation.

Pranidhana mudra is a hand gesture that supports us in surrendering, in letting go of attachments and releasing what we don’t need in order to make space.

It soothes tension in the body and helps reduce stress and blood pressure. It promotes a sense of ease and stillness.

Its Earth and Water qualities helps us cultivate flow, relaxation, mindfulness, serenity, calm and sleep.

How to do Pranidhana mudra:

Bring the ring and middle fingers to the thumbs, then touch index and pinkies together. Let the back of your hands rest on your thighs for support.

As you hold your mudra with the eyes closed or lightly closed, feel the contact between your fingertips. Then, sense the space between the fingers.

You can accompany your mudra with affirmations to support its effects:
– I effortlessly release muscular and emotional tensions.
– I welcome ease and peace within my whole self.
– My life is an effortless flow.

Feel free to reuse these or make your own.

You can use the mudra in your yoga or meditation practice and also at bedtime, for a few breaths or a few minutes.
