Just hearing the word causes your mind and body to contract. When you hear it a 100 times a day, can you imagine how the psychology of fear affects your body?

Succumbing to the fear and the panic is not helping you or your loved ones.

While we need to look after ourselves and be vigilant with our hygiene and social behaviour, not everything is out of our control.

Here are 10 tips to ๐—ฏ๐—ผ๐—ผ๐˜€๐˜ ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ ๐—ถ๐—บ๐—บ๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ฒ ๐˜€๐˜†๐˜€๐˜๐—ฒ๐—บ ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น๐˜†:

  • Minimise stress:
    Be discerning in the sources and the amount of news articles you are reading. While we can’t control the situation and the challenges that arise, we can choose how we respond.

 

  • Meditate
    Take some time out to breathe and to connect within. Now, more than ever is paramount to stay centered and in touch with your feelings.

 

  • Get a lot of sleep
    Sleep resets your nervous system and boosts your immune system. Your body’s ability to fight antibodies is reduced when you don’t get enough sleep.

 

  • Maintain your movement practice
  • Practise restorative practices like Yoga Nidra, Supported Restorative Yoga and Yin Yoga. They are great tools to help reduce anxiety, fears and worries. Poses that target the lung meridian are particularly effective in boosting your immune defence.

  • Spend time in nature
    Forests and ocean side are ideal in breathing fresh air to cleanse the lungs and sinuses.

 

  • Eat nutrient-rich foods
    Particularly foods rich in zinc and selenium such as lentils, nuts, red meat, eggs, chick peas, shellfish, hemp/pumpkin/sesame seeds,ย and eat garlic.

 

  • Increase vitamin A, C, D and E intake and avoid alcohol
    Include lemons, oranges, cod liver oil, fatty fish and herrings, egg yolks, broccoli and nuts in your diet.

 

  • Consider respiratory tincturesย 
    Eucalyptus, lemon,ย rosemary, sage and tea tree essential oils are antimicrobial, antiviral, antibacterial and great to diffuse at home to get rid of germs,cleanse the air and support your respiratory function.
