Rest: A Poem to Bring You Peace

I am happy to share with you one of my poems.

It was inspired by the Spanish proverb: ‘How beautiful it is to do nothing and rest afterwards.’

You can read it while sipping on your cup of tea, preparing for a Yin Yoga or Supported restorative Yoga practice, or before Savasana.

I hope you enjoy it and that it invites you to rest, a powerful healing tool at our disposal.

Rest

Recline
Rest your head, darling

Close your eyes
Feel your breath

Rest
Do nothing

It is not a luxury
It is a necessity

It is not a reward or a treat
but the deepest act of self care

Rest
Do nothing

There’s nothing to lose and so much to gain
More space, more inspiration, more creativity

Gift yourself this interval of non doing
A time to recharge, to day dream, to be

Just for a moment
Cease all activities

Rest
Do nothing

There’s virtue in discipline and work,
There’s also virtue in rest

Rest
Do nothing
Take your time
